A Place Where Cancer Is the Norm

HOUSTON — M. D. Anderson Cancer Center has a mission statement, and everyone who works there, from the president to the cleaning crews, can state it like a catechism: to “eliminate cancer in Texas, the nation and the world.”

For the nearly 90,000 patients who will go to the center in Houston this year, that mission cannot be fulfilled soon enough. They and their families arrive at the world’s largest freestanding cancer hospital from around the world, often leaving behind jobs and stashing children with relatives for months. Some rent apartments or stay in mobile home parks near the hospital.

Injection inflammation

Prince was admitted to TMC on July 3, due to injection inflammation.

Child specialists were suspecting the abnormal inflammation was caused by contaminated needle of JE immunisation injection taken at government clinic on June 30.

Prince was suffering high fever, itchiness and bad appetite.

Luckily, after few medications and monitoring, Prince was recovered and discharged 3 days after.

This was another high-risk illness suffered by my two princes since the fit attack on Little Prince about four months ago.

Healthy is everything!

Every second our bone marrow makes another 3 million red blood cells.  

They live for about 120 days before destroyed in the liver.

Final stage

This was what the doc told me a week ago.

I remained calm, mixed with sadness and painfulness.

It happened so fast, without any signal.

No panadol

The doctors used to tell us that whenever they have a headache, they are not willing to take PANADOL (PARACETAMOL).
