'No-confidence' motion under wrong Standing Order

Speaker to the House of Representative of Malaysian Parliament, Pandikar Amin Mulia disallowed a 'no-confidence' debate against Malaysian Prime Minister Abdullah Badawi, on the ground that the motion asked for a resolution, and that did not fall under Standing Order 18(1) in which it was filed under.

The emergency motion was filed under Standing Order 18(1) by opposition leader Dr Wan Azizah on last Friday. Under Standing Order 18, the motion only allow for debates and not for resolution.

It is upset to see the opposition party has filed the motion under the wrong Standing Order even though they have few very good lawmakers in the House.

Currently, people are more concern about the issues of fuel price hike and the mid-term review of the 9th Malaysian Plan. Sincerely hope that all the lawmakers will able to contribute to the betterment of the society, and not trying to be the 'best actor', 'best actress' or 'best director' of the unnecessary political drama.
